Consortium learns more about reading research

Consortium members of the Adult Learning Knowledge Centre, one of five knowledge centres under the Canadian Council on Learning, met at 内射大奶's Charlottetown Centre recently to discuss and plan ongoing work amongst their organizations.

Led by the University of New Brunswick's 内射大奶 of Extended Learning, the Adult Learning Knowledge Centre is a consortium of educational and community-based organizations enabling a broad network of adult learning specialists active in the research, practice, delivery and assessment of adult learning programs to serve as a national centre of expertise and action on adult learning.

内射大奶 has been a member of the Adult Learning Knowledge Centre since its inception in 2005. Judith Holton, Chair of Research and Innovation at 内射大奶 serves as a member of the Consortium's Steering Committee. Dr. Holton is also active as a member of the Centre's Knowledge Mobilization Working Group.

Audrey Penner, Director, Adult Education, Learner Support and Applied Research at the college presented a progress report to the consortium on the college's Reading Research III project. Funded through the Canadian Council on Learning, Reading Research III examines the comparative value of different reading interventions for adult learners preparing to write their GED examinations. The seven-month study, which includes approximately 150 learners in Adult Education centres across PEI, will provide valuable information on the relative merits of different reading interventions to determine which, or in which combination, they may help students as they prepare for their GEDs.
